Giles 2009 Resort Collection
designed by Giles Deacon and styled by, who else, Katie Grand.
I love the look of the red wig with pale pinks and fresh neutrals. The whole show is awesome, see it here.

A Place Where Shoes Are ALWAYS Optional

Just a handful of my favorite pictures taken over the past week spent in Brownsville, TN at my annual family reunion. Starting off with us heading through the Smoky Mountains on our way to Tennessee.

The wash stand at the back of our cabin.

Cos'n Johnny, the early-riser, gave me a great opportunity to capture the early morning light.

The family cemetery. I can follow my family lineage here all the way back to my 7-greats grandfather, Reverend Howell Taylor, who started this camping tradition in 1826. Now it is served best as a playground for all.

The best loved stones are the ones easiest to sit on!

I love the way this stone looks.

Sunday church where all the babies born in the past year get baptized. Some people are overwhelmed by the fact that we go to church twice a day -- everyday! -- but it's all good fun, even for the kids.

Just one of the many feasts eaten throughout the week. For this meal, our camp joined with the John Thornton Camp and all 26 of us squeezed in for a memorable lunch.

Gouda mac n' cheese, corn casserole, biscuits, and banana cake!

Prepping for a water balloon fight. It reached 100 degrees on this day, making the kiddie pool an ideal place to hang out.

And finally, my all-time favorite thing about camp -- taking your shoes off for the entire week! This picture was taken one night on the Weddington porch, where a rousing game of Who-Sir-Me-Sir was taking place.

Back from Camp Meeting. Cheese grits casserole, pulled pork barbeque, cole slaw, graham muffins, and sweet tea! Once I find the time to go through all 390 pictures I just uploaded from the last week, I'll be posting my favorites.

Gone camping. Will be back next week with lots of pictures and an expanded waistline!

Good Things

Spending time at the Hollywood Bowl....

...watching Tegan and Sara...

...and Death Cab for Cutie. Their finale had fireworks that synced up with their song "Transatlanticism". It was mind-blowing!

Mainstreet USA in Disneyland. Went for the night's fireworks and festivities on Friday.

I love these new light-up balloons! And they constantly change colors. It's like a swarm of jellyfish floating around in the night and every once in a while one breaks off from the pack and goes in a new direction.

If I ever find a real town that looks like this, I'm moving there immediately.

Anna Dewey Greer's website is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. One of my best friends in college, we were roommates for 2 years before I graduated and this is the first I've seen of her senior work. She takes the title of fiber artist to a whole new level.

A shot of the cabin my family stays in for a week at our family reunion. There are ping pong tables all over the campgroup, along with corn hole games and sandboxes. Brother Laurence is really good at ping pong.
First-cousin Richard dealing and second-cousin David watching Tripoli on the kitchen table. Lots of cards and boardgames get played. Richard is really good at poker.
Organized softball games usually form once or twice during the week. Second-cousin Elizabeth at bat and first-cousin once-removed Matthew pitches.
The less serious stay on the sidelines and play with hoses!
