I finally watched Twilight and now am learning why fans are so crazy about it. Indeed, I was thoroughly entertained. I was even more entertained to watch some extra footage on the bonus features showing that the premiere was in my neighborhood! It's so funny living in LA and suddenly everything to see on TV is familiar, like, you're sure you know exactly where they are.

I particularly love the Diddy Reese and Mr. Noodle showing up in the background of this picture. Growing up (not in LA) you assume red carpet events are these totally glamorous moments when in real life they're just on the street with some makeshift carpet and velvet ropes. This sounds silly but I always thought it was something normal people were excluded from somehow but it's really regular schmos on the street being a part of it as well.Westwood Village is a very popular place for premieres and I've decided I'll have to witness at least one while I'm here so close. I don't know if I could ever get wrapped up in the whole autograph/fan craze thing but I wouldn't mind screaming a little in good fun.

Been watching Kill Bill -- (love that whole kick-ass, girl-power theme!) -- will never stop thinking about how this is the coolest Daryl Hannah ever looked in her trompe de l'oeil trench coat by Moschino.

I just remembered how much I loved this painting from "Up". Done in gouache, painted by Lou Romano.

At the corner of Hollywood and La Brea. I was at that perfect age when Harry Potter first came out and have been hooked ever since. I enjoyed waiting and looking forward to each new book release and now I feel the same about the movies. And the best part is that enough time has passed between me reading the book and seeing the movie that I forget the story and get to experience it all over again! Can't wait!

Up Premiere

We got to do the balloons for the premiere of Up. Of course they wanted a bunch like the one attached to the house, but they soon understood the impossibility of that and ordered several small bunches. I'm excited for a movie to come out that I actually wanna see in the theater.

Harry's Interior Decoration

Stills from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Sirius' family tree wonderfully painted across the entire room. I love the wooden, black trim as well. Such an inspiring room.

Thanks to this website, who has pictures of every frame of the movie, I was able to look back at this room that I thought was so inspiring. They also have frame-by-frame shots of tons of other movies.

The end credits on Wall-E are great, in fact, all the new Disney movies really have some great animations worth sitting through. I love the way the modern robots and ships are rendered throughout artistic history.

Went to see Coraline the other night on 3rd Street Promenade. I wouldn't say it was the best movie I ever saw but it was definitely worth going to see in 3D at the movie theater. My favorite part was the garden scene in the other world. After the movie, Than found some of the concept artists' blogs and I grabbed some of my favorite pictures. It's an especially inspiring movie for people who like textiles. We found a YouTube video on a woman, Althea Chrome, who actually mini knitted Coraline's sweater! So cool.

The Rescuers

Than and I watched The Rescuers (1977) last night. I loved the color scheme on Medusa, the fire-haired villian with giant pet alligators. I freeze-framed the movie and put together some color chips. The best part about doing an exercise like this is that it helps me to think about other colors besides the ones I always go to.
